The Wagga Magpies Junior Rugby League Club was established in 1964 by the late Ian Mortimer. The club was built from humble beginnings when Ian convened a meeting in his carport attended by a handful of parents who were also passionate about rugby league. The club has grown exponentially in the past 50 years from two teams to now having more than 150 registered players.
The Magpies play in the Group Nine competition which consists of teams from the Wagga area also taking in teams from Albury, Young, Harden, Tumut, Gundagai and Tumbarumba.
Over the past 50 years the club has built a solid foundation in the community and has fostered the talents of many young rugby league players who have gone on to represent professionally for their state and country.
